Here's a quick recap... a highlight per day since I've been AWOL:
Sunday - I went to Alan's Sunday School class with him. He has been coming into our (adult) class for months. Now that we are exiting cold and flu season and he is a little bit older, we're going to try to start sending him to the preschool class. Dale is still there, so that should help. I think it is going to take a few weeks of me going with him to get him used to the idea.
Monday - Dale spent the day with Gramps, and Alan and I had a 'just-the-two-of-us' sort of day. It was fun! We read books and sang songs and he got lots of undivided attention. We also discovered a super new website, and Alan has a new favorite song. Click here to see our new song. From that post you can click the label "Musical Mondays" to see lots of other songs, or click "Home" at the top left of the page to browse the other stuff. (I suppose I could do all that linking, but I am feeling lazy. At least I'm posting at all, right?) Definitely a fun blog I will visit again!
Tuesday - The boys and I went on a little trip (to our "other" house). Approaching a RR crossing we have crossed dozens of times, we were stopped for a train, for the first time! Dale, who has always loved trains, enjoyed every moment. Alan woke up, commented, and promptly went right back to sleep. Dale talked about it for miles.
Wednesday - We had an impromptu visit from my Nana and PawPaw and my mom (Mimi). FUN!! Went for a walk and spent a good part of the afternoon outside in the sunshine-speckled shade.
Thursday - Woke up early to a thunderstorm. Alan asked (very nicely) to get up, so we put him in bed with us, where he slept soundly for another hour and a half. The sun is out now, and it and the wind are working together nicely to dry up any remnants of mud puddles from this morning. I love sand. Sand = MUCH LESS MUD (as compared to dirt).
In other bits o' info....
In school this week:
- Five-in-a-Rowing "The Little Red Lighthouse and the Great Gray Bridge"
- Reading about bridges and rivers and New York City.
- Finishing up "Meet Kirsten" from last week. (Have I mentioned that I started this American GIRL series with Dale? I figured I better work quickly to share these gems with him before he figures out they are all about GIRLS) Ha! :)
In the kitchen:
- Sausage, Potato, Sauerkraut Skillet
- Crock Pot Chicken & Dumplings
- Crock Pot (though originally stove top, but the stove is temporarily out of commission) Pork Chops with onion soup and mushrooms

I'm so glad you found the blog and like slippery fish. It's one of our very favorites, too!
I read the entire "Little House on the Prairie" series to my boys when they were young. I never read any of the American Girl series to them. I am looking forward to it with my daughter though!
So glad to get caught up :) Sounds like you guys have had a really nice week - snuggling with a little one during a thunderstorm..for just one more hour of sweet sleep...sounds like heaven!
Have a wonderful weekend!
