How did he know this?
He read it in the newspaper! Of course!
And then he talked about it for days.
So when we had to make an out-of-town errand late yesterday afternoon, we were planning very carefully and crossing our fingers we would make it back in time.
Which we did. We even had time to take a few pictures: This was Alan's first fireworks display. Last summer he was too small to enjoy it (plus we had a tube-feed that had to be started by that time of night). At New Year's he was a little busy. So - last night was the first time for Alan to see fireworks. You never can tell how a kid will like those bright loud things, but our guess was that Alan would do just fine - and he did!
Here he is seeing his first few:
He watched the first 3 or 4 pops in awe and then clapped his hands. After 7 or 8 he signed "all done". Lol. But then he settled in and watched for a while:
I dunno... do you think Dale is enjoying the fireworks he talked about for days before?
After a while Alan got more into it and began wandering around in front of us. We couldn't figure out where he was trying to go. To get closer to them maybe?
But we can tell you it is very difficult to stay upright on toddler legs while looking at the sky and trying to clap!
And whaddya know!? My camera has a setting just for fireworks! Fun!
Doesn't this one look like a dandelion blowing away in the wind?
We don't have any definite plans for today. By bedtime the day will probably have included some cook-out type food, some sprinkler or pool time for the boys, and some sparklers as it gets dark. What about you? How are you spending this Independence Day?

I'm getting ready for a BIG party!!
This morning, we packed for our move. Then we napped. Now we are starting to get ready for our BBQ with friends, which will involve sprinkler/slipnslide time for girls, and looooooots of food. (We ARE Southern Baptist, and isn't that a rule or something for get-togethers?) And drum rolll please, for the first time ever, we all got matching shirts! :-) Gotta love $3 ts from Wally World!
I've come to visit from Chickadee's blog. I love the fireworks pics (I really have to read my camera's instruction booklet!!!) and the cute look on your boys' faces! All the best with homeschooling your children - what a blessing!
you got some pretty good pictures. fireworks are hard to photograph.
Oh I just love this big cheeks! How cute your boys are!!!
Let's see... today we kind of hung around the house and did nothing-- which was NICE. And then we went to a local church that has a big to-do with games, prizes, hot dogs, live band, and did I mention fun games with prizes? My boys loved it!
We left before it got dark and shot some of our own fireworks in the driveway. :-)
Now it is past my bedtime! Happy Independence Day!
You got some great pictures!
Our 4th was pretty rainy so that, quite literally, dampened our fun a bit. Still, we were with my parents, one set of grandparents, and my brother (+ one of his friends) so we managed to have some fun...
Those pictures are precious! (And you are adorable, Amy!)
