Always learning

I took another walk down memory lane with my boys the other day.

Dale was fiddling with the digital thermometer that was left laying out on the counter.  Instead of just telling him not to play with it, I told him why, by telling him the following (true) story:

"One time I was sitting at my table eating a hot dog.  Lying right on the table was a thermometer, but not a digital one like this.  It was the old glass kind, that had mercury in it.  I decided I wanted to know how hot my hot dog was so I stuck the thermometer in it."

(You know what's coming don't you?)

"The hot dog was much hotter than the thermometer could measure and it broke, spilling mercury into my hot dog.  I had to throw the whole thing away."

Dale was duly impressed at my mistake and the exciting ending to my experiment.

"Guess how old I was when I did that."

Dale guessed 8.

I grinned and shook my head 'no'.

He guessed 10.  I shook my head again.

Do you have a guess how old I was when I pulled such a stunt?

........

........

I was 21.   :)

I love your scientific mind! I SEE words in my sleep and when you said you were sitting at 'my' table, I knew you probably were an adult or living at the three bears house with 'papa bear's table', 'mama bear's table' and 'baby bear's' table.
