Hello dear blog. And dear blog readers. How I've missed you!
Even though the title of this post claims "catching up", there is no way I can catch up on all that has happened since July.
So, in short: we have moved!
We made it. All seven of us and (almost) all our junk stuff belongings are in our snug little seminary rent house. I say "little" but it's actually bigger than the home we left, and here on campus it's referred to as "the big house". Reserved 'specially for large families.
It sat empty for at least 3 years before our arrival. Waiting, although unbeknownst to us, just for our little herd. There's that "little" again. We're obviously not too little if we qualify for "the big house."
Pictures to come eventually, but our internet isn't really squared away just yet. I'm crouched on the back step, getting eaten up by mosquitoes just to get this post done. I didn't know I was so desperate for computer internet access!
So, long story short, we are here. We're meeting lots of nice folks, and Greg's classes have begun. Most (over half?) of our stuff is unpacked, and while some areas still need work we aren't overwhelmed with boxes or anything.
The kids and I will start school Monday, a full 5 or 6 weeks later than I normally like to start. That's ok though. With homeschooling you are never behind. :)
In other news, my poor Dale has a stomach bug. He got sick just as we were going to bed last night and had a pretty yucky morning, but has improved steadily throughout the afternoon.
Y'all know how I like to play "this day in history." Well today I pulled one on him. He commented on what a way this was to spend his last day being 9. I agreed with him, and then the thought struck me: August 22 10 years ago was a pretty crummy day for me. I told him I threw up on that day, and my tummy hurt really, really bad. :) Of course, that's because I was having a baby. 50 minutes after midnight we welcomed our firstborn into this world.
"You aren't having a baby are you?" I think he was amused. It was hard to tell.
Hopefully he'll be good as new tomorrow and no one else will fall with the yucks. We have big birthday plans for the weekend!
Now that I've found the internet sweet spot (completely legally, I promise) perhaps I can brave the mosquitoes and get the ol' blog rolling again. I don't know what I'll do when it rains. We'll cross that bridge when we get there. ;)
Love to all, and to all a good night!
